EXPLORE

MICHIGAN SUMMER

Summer at Crystal Lake is what Up North dreams are made of. The water stays warm enough for all-day swimming, the days stretch long and lazy, and the rhythm slows to boat rides, beach towels, and sunset views that look too good to be real. Whether you're launching from the dock, exploring the dunes, or biking through small towns, summer here is all about being outside and soaking it in.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore – Climb massive sand dunes, hike forested trails, explore historic villages, and soak in endless Lake Michigan views.

Platte River Paddle – Kayak, canoe, SUP, or innertube down the crystal-clear Platte River through peaceful forests to Lake Michigan. Rentals available nearby.

Betsie Valley Trail – Paved 22-mile trail perfect for biking, walking, or jogging through farmland, wetlands, and small towns. Starts right in Beulah.

Arcadia Bluffs Golf Club --- One of America's most spectacular golf courses, perched 200 feet above Lake Michigan with sweeping bluff-top views. Championship courses wind through dramatic terrain where every hole feels like a postcard. Book tee times well ahead—this is bucket-list golf. A Sunset here one night is a MUST!

Traverse City Pit Spitters – Minor league baseball game (summer nights, family-friendly)

Crystal Lake (OBVI) – Turquoise water, some of the clearest swimming in Michigan. Paddle, swim, float, repeat. Rent a pontoon, bring your own boat. You're call, it's your vacay.

EMBRACE

  'OFFSEASON' MAGIC

When summer fades, Northwest Michigan transforms into a different kind of paradise. Fall explodes in color—fiery reds, burnt oranges, golden yellows—turning every country road into a scenic drive worth savoring. Winter blankets the region in quiet beauty, where cross-country skiing through snowy forests and cozy evenings by the fire become the new rhythm. These seasons reveal a slower, softer side of Pure Michigan that's just as unforgettable.

M-22 Fall Color Tour – Drive the iconic M-22 scenic highway through rolling hills, orchards, vineyards, and lakeside villages ablaze with autumn color. Peak foliage typically mid-October.

Crystal Mountain Resort (Thompsonville – 30 min) Skiing, snowboarding, tubing, and spa services. A full-service winter resort perfect for families.

Cross-Country Skiing & Snowshoeing – Miles of groomed trails wind through state forests and Sleeping Bear Dunes. Rent equipment locally or bring your own for peaceful winter exploration.

Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail (Winter) – Hike or snowshoe the 22-mile paved trail through quiet winter landscapes. Stunning Lake Michigan views year-round.

Ice Fishing on Crystal Lake – Locals head out onto frozen Crystal Lake for perch and pike. Rentals and guides available for first-timers.

U-Pick Orchards & Cider Mills – Fall harvest season brings apple picking, cider donuts, and farm-fresh cider. Local favorites include Tandem Ciders and Pond Hill Farm.
